Travel Centers and weigh stations POI's lack useful and important interstate, exit#, and mile marker information in the (name) not the description. This mean you have to do a lot of guessing and clicking on irrevolent POI's because someone is making them all with the same name. Example: In the POI called "Pilot Locations" they all say "pilot Locations". You have to click on them one by one to see if you can find all the pilots on your route. A much more useful name would be...Pilot AL I-65 exit 163 or Pilot TX US-70 MM 148. The weigh Stations should be named WS AL I-20 MM 213. That way you know which one to click on without having to use the process of elimination.
Ok I'm new to the world of GPS and POI's but im iterested in learning how to make POI's and edit the ones i downloaded to make them more user friendly.

Good feedback

This is a little different than how the built-in POI work, but I think it could be a useful improvement.

For some POIs, it will take a while to gather data like this. I'm working on improving tools so that it's easier for people to contribute individual POIs or additional information. The type of details you're looking for aren't always available in the initial set of source data.

Weigh Stations are in the POI Database, so I can set you up with access to edit if you'd like to make some additions. I haven't converted travel centers from CSV to the database yet, so they're still harder to work on collaboratively.

You're Right!

I contributed several of the travel center POIs and agree that address data is important.

Flying J was the first one I uploaded. I made this with Google Earth and saved it as a KML file, then used POI Edit to make it into a CSV file. The problem is, POI Edit removes all the address information when it converts it to a 3 column CSV file.

So, my findings with POI Edit is that it can only work with a 3 column POI. If it does recognize a 4 column POI, it will either error out or remove the first column after the LAT/LON columns. To resolve your comment, the address data would need to be in or included in the name column.

The PETRO and LOVES files where the next I uploaded. But, if you'll notice, they contain address information in the individual POI. They all still have "Petro Travel Plaza" in the list. I didn't convert them with POI Edit. Instead, I figured out how to edit them with MS-Excel and save them as a CSV file. However, loading the CSV file into POI Edit will result in several columns containing the address information, POI Edit removes the Name Line. Resaving the POI will give you what you wanted.

I'm going to redo the Flying J POI to include the address data.
