Get s 2 gig SD card

There have been reports that some 4 gig cards don't work so well. Everyone that I know of that uses 2 gig cards works well.

Re:4GB SD card...

FWIW...I use the SanDisk 4GB SDHC (high capacity) cards for my .mp3's and have had no problems whatsoever...

Format

Format your card and reload the data.

Make sure you format in Fat 32.....

4GB SDHC

I have a SanDisk 4GB SDHC .. works fine. Note that it will take time for the unit to upload all the data in the memory card. It might take 50s in startup to load all your mp3 files. Would recommend talking to a Garmin rep anyway!

Nuvi SD Card

I just got my Nuvi 660 - can you give me any pointers on excatly what SD card I should buy? I don't think I will be using it for MP3's...so not sure how big an SD card I would need - also is SanDisk the brand to buy?

Sorry, I wasn't more clear.

What are you planning on using the SD card for?

You don't need a card to use the unit, and there's lots of space on the unit for Custom POIs, so if you aren't planning on using the card for MP3s, what will you use it for?

Are you going to load maps to it? If so, which maps?

The planned uses of the card determine what size is needed.

4 GB freeze

I'm willing to bet that what looks like a freeze is just load time. I went thru this awhile back (search on mp3 and sd card)....and thought my nuvi 660 was freezing...with a 4gb card...eventually all mp3s got loaded and the 'freeze' went away. It was just that in the several minutes that the files on the card were being loaded, the device image didn't change, so it looked like it was freezing. I decided after a lot of experimenting to use 2gb cards, which took lots less time.
