Hello All,
This morning I added 2 more states to the Home Depot poi file and there is one for Sparks, NV that I am unable to get the coordinates. All I am able to get is the zip code location but NOT the address location. It is located at what I think is a new mall/plaza known as Spanish Springs at this address:
4655 Galleria Pkwy
Sparks, NV 89436
(775)354-2245
What I need is someone in the area to get the coords for me so I can complete the NV portion of the file.
Thanx,
Ray
The Yahoo geocoder says the
The Yahoo geocoder says the coords are:
39.6089, -119.7056

What you're seeing is only
What you're seeing is only the zip code coords NOT the address coords. There is a big difference between the 2. I was mainly using Geocoder and that's the results it gives.

I went to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert?form=address and put in the address in the quick geocoder, and it gave me those coords - but when you map those, it looks like the middle of nowhere. Odd...

Exactly, what they are
Exactly, what they are giving you is the zip coords. I ran into this too. What I need is someone that lives near there to save their current location when they are at that Home Depot. The location is so new the map shows nothing at all..

contest coords
How about a "best guess" contest until someone that lives out there can give you an eyeball on the place? See who gets the closest. After comparing several things I'll make my guess as 39.618948, -119.702811. This could help serve as an exercise in alternative thinking and investigation.

Now you're on the right
Now you're on the right track! What I am looking for is someone who lives near there to save the location when at the address. I try to be careful when creating poi's to get exact locations or people will get lost and that defeats the purpose of gps.

Agree completely
Nothing replaces an exact location, I'm all for that.
I do like to exercise my out of the box thinking.
I was checking out some places the other day just for fun (of course they had to be new places). Not showing up on any of our available maps. However, using Google Earth in conjunction with the company's website and often the driving directions or map from said page, I was able to come quite close at least in visual range if not the parking lot.
