Proximity alerts in a C530

Page 17 of the Garmin C530 Owner's Manual has a picture of the system screen that has these options:
GPS Mode
Safe Mode
Garmin Lock
Proximity Alarms
That same screen on my C530 has only the first three options; the Proximity Alarms option is not shown. All I have are GPS Mode, Safe Mode, and Garmin Lock - Proximity Alarms is simply not there.
Should it be? Might this be an error within my C530? Or maybe the GPSr is correct and the Owner's Manual is wrong?
If the Proximity Alarms option isn't supposed to be there, does that mean the the C530 doesn't support proximity alarms?
I'd appreciate it if folks that actually have C530's would take a look at their system screen to see if they the Proximity Alarms choice. And if they don't, does the proximity alarm function anyway. Thanks.

I have a C580. I only have the same three items in the System menu. When I've loaded POI with proximity alerts, however, I get an additional icon in the setup menu, named Proximity Points. Its menu contains Proximity Alerts.
