Does Chipset G Prevent Downgrade?

The latest Garmin nüvi update (3.50 for the nüvi 200) enabled the Type G Chipset (SiRFstarIII) update to be loaded. Does this mean that once the Type G Chipset update is installed I cannot, or should not, revert back to a previous firmware version that has the 2D map scale?

I'm wondering if the Type G Chipset update requires the latest firmware version (3.50).

Just trying to figure out how to get my 2D map scale back.

I have all of the previous firmware versions (2.90, 3.10, 3.30, and 3.40)

Does anyone have the original 2.00 firmware for the nüvi 2xx?

You would hope that isn't the case, given that you can downgrade the main firmware, but you can't downgrade the Sirf firmware...i.e. they must realise there is the possibility for them to be out-of-line.

My C510 is still running V5.4 firmware instead of the latest V6.0 and seems happy with the Sirf upgrade. OTOH, my Nüvi 310 is up to date ... and I would remove the Sirf upgrade from it (if I could) - it seems to have degraded it, if anything.

Check this site out, seems to have a list of all the updates. It's not official, thus use it at your own risk.
