Trying my first POI project...

First time poster here, as I just got my first gps (Nuvi 260) for Christmas. I have been messing around a bit with some of the POI files here at this website and am most interested in the Dunkin Donuts file. I am in CT and notice that there are not very many, if any, of the CT DD locations in the POI. So, long story short, I am attempting to come up with a CT list for DD, as well as all of the ones along the route that I travel to go from the Submarine Base in Groton to the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH.
I just made a short list of the ones in the Groton, CT area and loaded them on the 260 for a test run in the morning (got the day off tomorrow). If they work out as they should, I plan on coming up with a longer, more in depth listing. Just thought I would shre this with you all.

We really need an area to discuss each POI file/project in public.

forum area

We have a whole forum area to discuss each project;) it is called "POI Projects" We could have a discussion thread for each and every file here if you guys would like. They could be linked to the file just like an icon is linked.

Well, I figured out how to do it and they actually work! So, I now plan on starting a Dunkin Donuts POI for the states of CT and MA. I will try and make it 100% complete, for all DD locations. This may take awhile, but when it's finished, I'll upload it to the site.

POI File Thread

Is an excellent idea. If nothing else, it would be a good place to provide details of the file (like specific format....all csv's are not created equal.... and target machines) and the revision history. Oh, yes and discussion too! smile
