can't get alerts to go off!!!

I have proximity alerts set for 23 mph within .25 mile of a school. I haven't once been alerted of the POI. I have the custom Pois checked under Proximity Points and audio set to Continuous - all alerts. Under a POI itself it says

Proximity Alarm
Distance: 1319ft
Speed: 23mph

Is there something else I'm missing?

thanks

The only clues I can give

The only clues I can give you are:
You have to be driving faster than your speed alert and the file name of the POIs must have speed in the name.

troubleshooting ideas

Here are a few ideas that might be helpful to figure out what's causing the problem.

If you have a lot of custom POI locations loaded, you might try just a small file to see if that makes any difference. I'd start with just one or two locations.

You might also try just a distance alert (without setting a maximum speed).

Once you find a simple combination that's working, you can add back features and/or scale up to a larger file again to see where things stop working.

POIs

When you load them and go to custom how can you do both set a speed alert and a distance alert???

Mark

redlight camera alert works, but not school alert.

1. The redlight camera alert did go off last night while I was driving around, but then I went past a couple schools and still nothing. I was going over the set alert speed.

3. Mark, I have 23 in the file name so the POILoader automatically sets the alert distance and the speed.

4. I'll try reducing the file size with just a few locations and see if that changes anything.

5. What is WAAP/EROS?

speed and distance?

Has anyone else had success with both speed and distance alerts set at the same time?

i had this problem some time

i had this problem some time back. i found that the speed and red light poi work better in the internal memeory of my c530. they seem to be slower in the sd card. so i load waypoints on 2 different sd cards this allows me to organize my poi for local and nation wide use amd and speed and red light in the unit. when i was testing the problem, i was installing a small number of test speed and red light poi.

learned a few things....

The alerts do come on now!!!! I changed the filename from file_name# to filename_#. Hopefully, the fact that I didn't have the alert speed separated by the underscore kept it from going off or I just got lucky! Could also be that I drastically reduced the size of the file on my internal memory.

I also noticed that my custom POI's show up on my map while I drive. woohoo. Don't ask me how it happened, but they were there. So, I know it is possible.
