I rescently bought a Nuvi 660 while down in Florids. If I insert my home address which is in Ottawa Canada and get the nuvi to calulate the route I get a totally wrong distance. The distance from Naples Florida to Ottawa Canada is 2650 to 2730 km. When I go to the favorites it shows the distance to Ottawa as 2275 km. However, If I say go and then pull up the Speed, distance minue it indicates 2660 which is reasonable. Does the Nuvi stop calculation the distance at the USA and Canadian boarder or have any of you experienced this problem. I have also tried Montreal Quebec Canada and get a similar result with the distance wrong in one place and correct in another.
A second issue I have is forcing the Nuvi to take the HWY's I want instead of what it is calculation. How do you make it say on Major HWY's set the Nuvi for Shortest distance or quickest time? Microsoft Streets and trips gives you more options and you can use different preferences for different parts of the route. That said having a laptop sitting on your passanger's lap is not a viable option for a 2700 km drive.
In general I really like this NUVI but must become more profecent in using it.
Any responses would be appreciated

Other than the normal avoidance settings (highway, toll roads, u-turns, etc) on that model you will have to do it manually. Set up favorites for each major point along your route and as you get to each of them, manually select the next one. You can use Google Maps, which allows you to click and drag your route onto the roads you want, to simulate and figure out where you need to tell the GPS to go to to take the roads you want.
The capability you really need is the multiple point routing in the 700 series. I bought a 750 specifically for this feature and it was essential on the 1800 mile road trip I just took over the holidays.
