poi-factory as well as gpspassion all seem to be filled w/ garmin enthuisiasts based on # of posters. (i'm also a garmin users). wonder where are the tomtom folks go....

yeah, I have noticed that most here are garmin users. I guess that is because we feel that they are the best. To be honest, I am not sure who is the best, sorta like Chevy and Ford.
But because I am a garmin user, this site has given me a vault of info.

I think it is basic market
I think it is basic market share... Garmin owns it like Microsoft owns the PC. TomTom is a relatively young company compared to Garmin and therefore just not as many units sold.
I tell you what though based on what I have seen TomTom do on the Pocket PC world side of things which is where they got their strong hold. They seem to be MUCH more responsive to innovation and additional features and software changes. I think that it won't be long until you see TomTom catch and surpass Garmin. Garmin needs to wake up and smell the roses because TomTom is coming on fast.
