When are POI's on map ?

When are POI's (both internal and custom) supposed to show on a map? If I am simply navigating to a location I dod not see them on the map when within range. If I tap my Nuvi 200 screen the map changes somewhat and I then can see POI's . I don't understand what the difference is.

.

You probably need to zoom in closer.

Yeah, depending on the

Yeah, depending on the model, you have to zoom in pretty close to see the POIs. For the nuvi 350, it is 200 ft. For the c530, it was 300.

I'll double check but I am fairly certain I was very zoomed in, in fact I was actually AT the location.

Is it that you are trying to

Is it that you are trying to view the POI's while in 3D??

i have the same problem.

i have the same problem.

i have a Garmin C330. in the driving screen, regardless of 2D or 3D, I will only see the map and none of the POIs. the POIs are only visible in the "browse" mode in the GPS and when the zoom is 300ft or lower. for the record, i had set the map detail level all the way to "most."

conversely, I have a friend who just got a tomtom for christmas. On that GPS, it shows the POIs on the map regardless of mode.

is there any way to enable this for Garmin GPSes?

I have not found a way to

I have not found a way to enable this, only in browse mode i'm afraid.

I can provide reasonable doubt, for a reasonable price!

nuvi 660

I have a garmin nuvi 660 and had the same problem. I wasn't able to view the POI until I zoomed in.

POI on map

I think I was. Should I not use 3D if I actually want to see POI was they are close by ?

Nuvi 750 is the same

Nuvi 750 is the same way..only from the browser mode..

I may be mistaken as I just

I may be mistaken as I just got my 650 for xmas but I believe you can only see the POI's in 2D maps. Anyone care to confirm? (I hope I'm incorrect!)

I noticed on my nuvi 200

I noticed on my nuvi 200 that it will not shoe POIs in 3d mode, even when setting details to highest, but will on 2D mode. one thing I liked about Streets and maps was you could tell the program which category POI's to display on-screen and which to hide.

My Nuvi 350 shows POIs only

My Nuvi 350 shows POIs only in 2D mode, but I do not have to be zoomed in that far.

just tried it on my streetpilot c330--even in 2d mode in 300 feet or less, POI's dont show up.

The maps that came with the c330 were North America NT v8. I overrode them with a custom map set using the NT 2008 DVD (by custom, I mean I only have a few states loaded on my SD card because the only card I have laying around is 128MB).

POIs on the Map

Seems like when you're travelling on a highway--the GPSr will zoom out to show greater view of the map in your direction of travel. About 1 mile from your destination, the unit will zoom in at 200-300ft to show you turns on the secondary & other smaller roads towards your destination. this is when you see the poi icons.

It all depends

On my LG model, if I were to select all POI's to be visible it would literally clutter the screen with hundreds of icons. Again, same goes with how far away the view is within 3D mode. When zoomed in is when the POI's are all visible. I only select the POI's I want to be visible when traveling/on the road (depending on the destination I am traveling to.
