Garmin does not have the 680 listed on 'all updates'
Do you have a link?
TIA

Garmin's WebUpdater

Garmin's WebUpdater application is needed to install it and it will find the updates automatically for you. Here is the link to download the latest version
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

After you use WebUpdater on the next power up of the nuvi you get a slight interruption as a note and progress bar comes up stating it is updating Bluetooth firmware. I also lost all pairings so I needed to redo the connections.

Cool

Cool ... my phones work on the 660 but text messaging does not ... maybe this will make text messaging more compatible with my phone.

Not looking forward to re-pairing my cell phone though ... that was a ..... well, not smooth going!

Thanks for the note ... I will update tonight.

Nuvi 3xx series with bluetooth

An update is available for the 3xx series as well.

A word of caution. I have

A word of caution. I have the 680 paired with the LG 9800 and so I did the update. I found that it did not help in my particular case and I had to re-pair my phone with the 680 and re-install all of my phone contacts (all 150) manually, one at a time, just like I did, originally. I still have no text messaging capabilities with the 680. Maybe it helped some people, though.

There is an update for the 760 as well. Needed to re-pair the RAZR V3 phone, but that was all. All phone books options stayed the same. Phone book, last incoming, last dialed, and missed all okay. Still can't find text messaging either.

Don't See Anything New

Ok, I updated. Still was difficult to pair my phones to the unit, but once done, they work ok.

Voice dialing works, as well as the phone book, recent calls etc. Text Messaging still not compatible.

Probably behind the scenes bug fixes or more models supported.

.

I did the update on both my nüvi 660 and nüvi 760. I had to pair my Treo 680 and Motorola V3 again to each unit after the update.

The nüvi will find the Treo 680 from the GPS, but the Motorola V3 had to be paired from the phone. Both work great. The address book for the Treo 680 has to be loaded manually, but the Motorola V3 loads everything automatically.

Both can send and receive text messages and TTS will read the text messages to you.

My LG 9800 supports

My LG 9800 supports bluetooth and text messaging so I wonder why I can not use it through my 680?

I only see my text messages on the GPS when they are received or sent while paired. If I disconnect the phone, the past text messages are not displayed on the GPS, only those that are sent or received during that instance of connection. The old messages do still appear on my phone.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe that's the problem. Am I not suppose to be able to 'send' text messages from my 680?

You should be able to send text messages from your nüvi 680 while connected to your phone. You will see your sent messages and received messages that were created or received during the last connection. As soon as you disconnect the phone or turn the GPS off, those messages will disappear, but remain on your phone.

Guess it is not going to

Guess it is not going to work with my LG9800. I get text messages while connected and they only show on the phone, not the 680. Oh well, maybe on next phone.

Still the same

Just paired Samsung A900 and Blackberry Pearl to my 760 all seems to be working the same (everything except texting works).

Looks like the update didn't help or hurt me.

Updated nuvi 680 from v

Updated nuvi 680 from v 2.86 to v 3.00. Had to pair phone after update (RAZR V3C). Pairing was easier than previous pairing under v 2.86. Only problem detected is that text messaging still doesn’t work.

I notice that too on my Samsung. Another strange thing is sometimes, I will get an incoming call and get disconnected right away. I know its not a call but the 680 thinks there is one.
Any one else experience this with the new bluetooth drivers?

I did the update on my Nuvi

I did the update on my Nuvi 680. I have a Motorola 815 bluetooth phone. After the update, I had to re-pair the phone with my Nuvi 680 which was no problem.

However, now everytime that I turn on my Nuvi 680 when my phone is on, a screen comes up that says that the bluetooth phone is "disconnected". That is strange, because it didn't do that with the previous version of the bluetooth driver. After you click ok on the screen, the screen goes away and then it re-pairs itself and works ok. The screen is a nuisance though....

Is anyone else experiencing this screen?

The new update is quirky.

Buggy.

My only problem has been

My only problem has been with text messaging still not working. According to Garmin, this was one of the fixes in v 3.00… Well I guess that we’ll have to wait for v 3.10 or v 3.50 or v 4.00 or v …

I had this happen periodically prior to the update. If I cycled the power on the phone, it resolved the issue.
