Changing your Splash Screen on a Garmin c340

To All

The Garmin site offers a download called "ximage". This can be found on the "support and download' page.

On the Garmin c340 "ximage" allows one to download and change the splash screen. It also allows the download the current screen image, if one wanted to do a show-n-tell.

The help information says "ximage" can add waypoints, but that was not an option for the c340. Perhaps on some of the more advanced models one can add waypoints.

I downloaded the Garmin splash screen and saved it, if I should need it again. I then reduced an image of my camper, while on a trip, to 4.444" wide by 3.333" high image to get a 226kb image. I added our name on the image and then uploaded it to the Garmin. It looks great and added a personal touch to the c340.

1. See first entry in this thread. It has all the links.

It took a while to find the software on the Garmin website, but here it is: http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=545.

To make things simple, I just used the software to download the splash screen "splash screen.bmp", edited it with my name and phone number, and then uploaded it back to my c320. Worked the first time.

Everyone should do this just to frustrate a thief.

Can't get this to work

I have been reading this thread and I have a c340. I have downloaded xImage and I am able to download a screenshot from the c340 but try and try as I might I can't get the xImage program to recognize any (saved many different ways) modified pictures on my desktop. When I get to the part of the program where it asks to select a file to upload it doesn't see any usable pictures saved on my laptop computer. Any suggestions?
