Maps in Hawaii

I will be taking a trip to Hawaii in a few months and was wondering if anyone has used their GPS on the islands. The Garmin website shows that the coverage map for City Navigator NT (North America) is "provided using unverified government data". I was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems there. Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.

My nüvi 200 has Hawaii maps and POIs

My nüvi 200 has Hawaii maps and POIs but I can't vouch for the accuracy of the data. I recall someone commenting about having problems in Hawaii, but others replied that they didn't.

Maps in Hawaii

I took a trip in September this year and visited both Oahu and the island of Hawaii, of course my Garmin 360 came with me! On both islands I rented a car and found my GPS invaluable. I did not have any problems at all using it there, btw I recorded my top speed while on the flight out it is 536 mph.

I just came back from

I just came back from Honolulu last month with my Garmin 650. I was unable to find my rental car company's street when I was ready to return the car. I have to call the company for direction. Then when I get to the rental company, the Garmin shows the street, but no street name.

There is another time I go somewhere in Honolulu, following the direction from the Garmin, when I was approaching my destination, it announce my destination is on the left, so I kept left, but when I look at the street number, my destination is suppose on the right hand side. It was a busy 4 lanes street. I ended up have to go around the very long block to get to my destination.

Other than the above problem, the Garmin gave me very good directions.

GPS in Hawaii works ... check out my Hawaii POI

Any recent GPS will not have any problems in Hawaii. It should work almost everywhere except possibly some heavy jungles. Also keep in mind some GPSs like the Nuvi line are NOT waterproof so it should be covered while raining. I was in Mai and Honolulu early this year and had no problems. You may also want to download the POIs from my Hawaii Trip see:

I used my 660 in Hawaii

I used my 660 in Hawaii earlier this year and it worked fine. Even had my favorite little curry shop, Coco Ichibanya, and the best shrimp place in the world, Giovanni's, in the factory database.

OAHU

No problems with my Garmin Nuvi 350. Got all around the island. I would change time zones when I got there and show my home as the place I am staying, hotel or whatever. I have been to Oahu many times since 1971, so I know the island. If your there get to the north shore.

And try Giovanni's shrimp! It's to die for. Beware the spicy dish, though. They have a disclaimer of NO REFUNDS!

Hawaii

I am trying to find Hawaii on my nuvi200. I can't get it to come up? Are there special downloads for Hawaii?

Hawaii on nuvi 200

According to the Garmin site, the nuvi 200 came with preloaded maps of the lower 48, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Does your unit still have the original map that came on it or has the map been updated or replaced? What method are you using to try to bring the Hawaii map up on your unit?

Hawaii

I don't have a 200, but I would say search for Honolulu.
You could try to shrink the map until Hawaii would show. If all else fails Openstreetmap might work.

I have a describe the installation of that under Costa Rica.
