nuvi 760 question

Just had an issue with my 660 and the speaker so I went to Best Buy and got a replacement. Got the 760 and from the first 30 minutes of use, I really like it. The screen during the day time is much easier to see than the 660. I have seen the comments that the screens were the same but this screen seems much brighter and more clear than the 660 under similar settings/conditions.

One thing I wondered about was the "route planning" feature. This is what was missing in the 660 for my type of use and I am happy to see it on this one. My question is, is there an easy way to lay out a route on the pc and upload it? I am using the 2007 garmin map system on my pc and the 760 had 2008. I did some searches here and did not see much info on the route planning and the info contained with the unit is not much.

Thanks for your help. Many others using the 760???

Mapsource?

If you are using mapsource. I have been a mapsource user for years and when I got my 660 this summer, my maps on the pc were from 2005, I e-mailed Garmin and asked for the cd with the 2008 maps. They sent it to me within a week, for free.
I had registered the 660.

That was my next step.

That was my next step. Getting the updates to map source. Question for the 760 is can I easily lay out a map in mapsource and upload it to the 760

Yup

Yes, you can. I have the 750 and mapsource, and it accepts the routes and follows them like a champ! Once you upload the route, you have to follow the directions in the users manual to be able to use it. If you don't have the users manual, you can get it at Garmin.com; bring up the 760; click on "manuals" on the right hand menu, and download the users guide. Instructions are on page 28. Also, it is ultra-easy to build a route right on the device.

auto routing on mapsource

I have the nuvi 750 and have had a couple of issues uploading to the nuvi. Some times only 1/2 the via points load. I haven't had time to debug the issue.

Routes

I haven't encountered that problem. I've built routes in mapsource, uploaded them to the device, then brought them up and panned out to see the entire route, and it's identical to what I built. Have you tried to build a route directly on the unit to see if it ignores via points?
