mp3 files and garmin c340

I am a new user. Have had my c40 three day now. I have downloaded poi loader and have have loaded a few poi files from here. My question is , will the c340 accept mp3 files and if so if I change a csv file to a mp3 file will I get a audio alert when near poi?

The c340 does not have a mp3

The c340 does not have a mp3 player so you can't add custom alerts to that unit. While I'm not totally familiar with that specific model, I'm guessing that there are probably some built-in alert tones that can be utilized.

Don't rename your files with the .mp3 extension. There is no way to make a csv file into an mp3 file. They are two entirely different animals, regardless of what you name them.

Keep reading the forums here. You will learn a lot quickly.

You will like it

As for my opinion if you wanted a GPS for navagation you got a good one as long as you don't want the bells, whistles and Christmas lights.
I love mine and when I use it which is 60-600+ miles a week it has never failed on me other than the natural glitch? once in a while.

Simulated trip question C340

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I will have to forget about the audio alerts on my custom poi's. Now I have another question. I enjoy practicing with the simulated trips (practice mode)and see what details and poi it shows ,But I am wondering.... Is there a way to speed up the action? I could just about jog the route as fast.
One more thing, I guess most here know of the trick of pressing on the time in the upper right corner for five seconds to get into the config. info. But I found out about it just today thanks to this forum. Any way it says I am running V4.40. Is that the best version to have? Every thing has worked great so far.
thanks..

4.40

4.40 is the latest update out for the c340.Go the Garmin site and download the webupdater. That way just hook gps to computer and click on the webupdater and it will check for latest updates.

webupdater

thanks Charlesd,
I was going to do what you suggest. But after reading about the update that messed so many up a few months ago I decided to give future updates a little time in the field before loading them..

update that messed so many up

If you don't have 4.40 and want to download it you will find it to have no problems.I have had 4.40 since Sept and no problems.Have used my c340 a lot with the update.

Here's a StreetPilot c3xx & c5xx Comparisons link Garmin factoryoutlet provides to distinguish the StreetPilot series differences.

I owned them both (c340 & c550) at one point but recently sold the c340.
