I am so lost when it comes to POI's

Ok I just got a garmin 660 and I have been trying (very unsuccessfuly I might add) to load poi's into it.
I downloaded several and have been installing them one at a time with corresponding .bmp's and mp3's. I read everything I could find here about installing these but when I install them (I do each one seperately) the only one that shows up in extras or for that matter the only one that works is the weigh stations which was the last to be installed, but the .bmp and .mp3 I used don't work!!! Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks Broncs

And use POI loader. When you install a poi file, it writes over existing files. So if you keep all your poi files on one location on the computer and add a latest file, all files will be installed again.

So I need to install them

So I need to install them all at once? ok now why aren't .bmp's and mp3's doing there thing I renamed them all the same as the .csv file???

Not necessarily all at once.

Lets say you keep a poi file on your desktop. Any additional poi files you download, you should save it on your desktop. So when you use poiloader to add the newer file to your gps, you will have to install all the old poi files along with the new one again to your gps. But since they are all on the desktop (or at any one location) it will be seamless.
I have no experience in uploading or installing bmp or csv files. Perhaps when I upload the red light files, I will learn along the way.

ok much thx for the help

POI Files

For bmps' and mp3's:
rename your bmp to weigh stations.bmp (icon)
rename your mp3 to weigh stations.mp3 (alert)
put the 3 files in the same folder on your pc.
Run POI Loader, and set the proximity alert to the distance you want.
Poi Loader will always overwrite the poi.gpi file in the Garmin-Poi folder on your GPSr. You can connect your GPSr to the PC, go into the folder and rename it to weigh stations.gpi. This way, you will always have weigh stations.gpi poi.
If you put all your POI files in the same folder, POI Loader will create one big poi.gpi which will contain all your POIs.

New folders

I created a folder on my drive called My Custom POIs. I use to load all of them in there. But I learned that you can create a subfolder for the files. SO I have a subfolder caller

My Custom POIs>Food Stores
My Custom POIs>Restaurants
My Custom POIs>Retail Stores

and so on. I separate my POI's into the corresponding folder. So when I hit the Custom POI's I get the subfolders Then I touch the subfolder where I put them and get the locations.
