It depends on whether you have an alert set with the Custom POI, whether you are on the road (or very close to) where the POI is located, etc. There are bunches of threads on this subject. Just use the 'Search' window and look for 'Alert'.

And just for fun...
The nüvi 600 series GPSr has the "simulate" function so you can see and test POIs without actually driving anywhere or wasting petrol.

No, it won't show up visibly unless you are really really really zoomed in close ... close enough to see your shoe laces. It will appear when the alert triggers.
If I understand correctly, there are a couple of different alert types for a POI ... one is if you are on the road and approaching the POI within a certain distance (i.e. a red light camera). Another is a proximity alert where if you get within a certain radius of the POI, and even another if you are exceeding a certain speed near the POI. You may have the alert type for that POI set wrong.
When an alert triggers, your GPS will ding (or play an mp3 if configured to do so) and a red bar at the top of the screen will appear with POI information.
I will have to play with it
I will have to play with it to see if i can change the settings on the radius and if i am on the road. Still new to this and alot of things i want to learn..thanks again
