Coversion

I am trying to convert the Memphis Attractions with POI edit, to a GPX format. When I attempt to open it with POI Edit I get line error messages. It does not work with any of the selections. There are a number of files on the forum that do he same thing ,yet some covert and work like a charm. All are currently in the CSV format. Thanks for trying to help.

Open the file with Excel and

Open the file with Excel and edit the lines with errors. Why not just use a verified .csv file since you have a Garmin?

Converting CSV

I do not know what to use to verify a csv file.

Buy the POI verifier program

Buy the POI verifier program from here (Retiredtechnician) for $5.00. If there's one thing he's good for, it's that program. You can get POI edit for free, which allows POI conversions.

That particular file has some 'linefeed' characters (0A) embedded in it, that are presumably upsetting POI Edit. They upset Excel too, which surprises me.

I didn't examine the whole file, but I spotted three - one in record 3 between "Norriswood Road" and "Memphis", in record 12 between "Central Avenue" and "Memphis" and again in record 13, between "Village Road" and "Memphis". POI Loader seems happy enough with them though.

File converted.

This seemed like a good exercise ... so:

  1. File reformatted as .gpx
  2. All phone numbers made dialable.
  3. All addresses re-geocoded to at least Street-level precision.
  4. Addresses re-parsed into correct gpx fields for display.
  5. Uploaded to POI Factory.
