Chatty Kathy thread for the week of November 26th 2007

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Moving

Well I,am finally getting out of Chesapeake and moving to Surry VA. My wife and I stayed at the new house that my fourth son built for us over the thanksgiving weekend. Were moving there this weekend permanently. My wife calls surry the Land of OZ! really laid back. kinda like Mayberry and andy griffin. Ten acres of property and the house is 3800 sq foot. Nobody around me or near me. The big problem is they don,t have cable or dsl out there yet and I,am not going back to dial-up. I,am going to look into satellite, so I might me down for awhile
Till then God Bless all of you and have a great Merry Christmas!

Yeah, my wife doesn't like sabrina but agrees that she was better then anyone else. I am mad that she went too.

Marie should have gone before a lot of people if you are judging her talent in dancing. But she has a very strong fan base and cute personality, so she stayed!

Besides her fan base I'm sure she is getting some help from sites like votefortheworst.com (although I see nothing about Dancing there).

Top 5 favorite cities?

Here's my picks...

1. Taos, NM in the wintertime. Aaaah the skiing... and you gotta eat at "Fred's Place". You won't believe the atmosphere in the place and the food is out of this world. I give it a 9. Plenty of good b & b's around Taos also.

2. Denver, CO. In the Spring time. You gotta eat at "Casa Bonito". I have never been in a place that has 6 working registers to check people out of a restaurant. With people diving off cliffs, the train rooms, the western rooms... and the food is fantastic. I give it a 8.5.

3. Chicago, IL. There's a German restaurant on Adams street that has cathedral ceilings painted in the motif of Leonardo De Vinci. Magnificent! Worth seeing. And those Germans know how to put the foods together. I give it a solid 8.

4. Carlsbad, NM. Of course one must see the "big room" 700 feet below the surface in the caverns. The food there is not so good like about a 3 maybe. But after the caverns, eat at the La Siesta in Carlsbad. The Senoritas there will keep your plate filled until you can't walk out of the place. And the food rates a 9.

5. Catfish Junction, IA. It's a little spot in the rode west of Des Moines, but for $7.95 you get all the vegetables, fresh fried catfish and all the trimmings as long as you can eat it. It may be a spot in the road, but you better get there before 5pm if you don't want to have to wait an hour to eat. It may not be much for atmosphere, but the food is super! I give it a 9.

6. Boston, MA. To walk the freedom trail, be in Cheers, sat at the stool where Ben Franklin used to eat a bowl of oysters every single day... and to reminiscent in the history... and then to eat at Charter's Lobster House. It's a bit expensive (about $26.00), but you'll get about a 3lb lobster cooked to perfection with all the trimmings. For Boston, that's not toooo bad. LOL. I give it a 8.5.

7. And last, San Jose, CA. The REDWOODS are simply majestic! Amazing to see a tree 300-400 feet high and 36 feet around. My 5'7 height felt so small in comparison. And to eat... Well the Blimy Steakhouse is worth going to. They have the bull riding in the center and someone is always riding the bull.. some even fall off really fast. But a good Prime Steak will set you back about $22.00 and it will be cooked, well you won't believe that steak can be that juicy. I give it a 9.5.

Yeah, I know, I can't count. But, now you know some places DW and I have been. smile

I think the three top dancers were Helio, Mel B and also Sabrina. However Helio was more fun to watch and really showed more enthusiasm than the rest. Anyone of the three could have won and I would have had no problem as they were all terrific.

Ha, ha!!! So, that is a real place after all. On one South Park episode (takes place in CO), Cartman gets all excited because he's invited to a place called Casa Bonita, which is actually correct Spanish. "a" denotes feminine and the adjective that follows it must, also.

The place was complete with the cliff divers and most of the other stuff. ROFL Hope I can check it out someday.

I don't about you, but dang, if my man (if I was a woman) laid TWO KISSES like he did and spent all his time racing and dancing (hence not with me), heck I would get rid of him too. Plus, I couldn't compete in talent and looks with JulieAnne.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SCREEN NAME

I wanted to start a new thread, but it doesn't have anything to do with GPSr, so I am posting it here.

How did you come up with your screen name? This isn't a reply to the above, just a new topic that I was wondering about and is for everyone to answer.

I got mine years ago. I wanted ppl to know that I was asian and a friend of mine said that I (like all aries)had a hot temper, so I chose that. Of course, I was also hoping that ppl thought that I was hot...didn't work...lol (until the bunny came out of me).

Years ago, before Al Gore invented the internet I ran a BBS (on PcBoard) that was humor oriented. Quackin' Up was the name I came up with for the board and it has been with me ever since.

and input a logarithmic formula based on the Enigma machine of WWII and compounded by the current 128SSL encryption key standard designed to create a foolproof screen name. After a 14 day, non-stop, analysis it told me to use my initials smile :)

Screen Name

"Spider Elliott" was a character's name in a book published in 1978.

Peter Elliott was the oldest child with three sets of twin sisters. He used to read Spider-Man comics to his baby sisters who started calling him "Spider," and the name stuck.

I've used this moniker since 2001 for another group, and it was a convenient one to use when I signed up here and was asked for an e-mail address.

I doubt anyone here knows the name of the book anyhow.

That was pretty funny TMK. I work with crazy super computers too, at Cape Canaveral. They told me to just stick with my aol screenname of 17 years. Don't know if Al Gore invented the internet back then, but Gopher and Veronica were both Republicans. (P.S. some of you might have to Google "Gopher and Veronica")

I've been lucky and never run into a problem using quackinup anywhere, although I did notice for a while that someone was using quackinup.com when I checked to see if it was available. Was a store selling christening clothes. Didn't make sense to me. I could have seen it if there was a duck theme on the page, but there wasn't. But, it seems to be available again.

My choice in cats

If we were to get another cat I would like to have one of these http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphynx_(cat)
We had two cats in Philly and they left hair everywhere. One was a maine coon and I really loved her, she was taken in by the people that bought our house.

Got two tabbies, one medium-long hair, the other short hair. You can guess which one leaves hair(ball) all over the place.

Mine is a concise, one-word description of me. The first place I used it, you were limited to 8 characters, hence the spelling.

On the other hand, my computers (and any software that snoops into them for my identity) think I'm Jethro Tull.

Especially Googling anything "kitty" or "cat"!!!

Maine coons are some of the coolest cats. They get really big and are just lovable clowns. I know mine is. He has a really interesting personality. He also brings our shoes upstairs and leaves them in interesting places. The only thing small about them is their wimpy meow. It sounds pitiful and cute all at the same time.
