Software updates for Nuvi

Does anyone know how to check the software version currently on your Nuvi and where to obtain updates if it needs to be updated? I just purchased a Nuvi 760 and want to ensure it has the latest firmware/software updates.

Download the webupdater from garmin's website onto your pc, plug the nuvi into an usb port, run the webupdater and it will tell what you need to do.

Maintenance Mode
I have a 760 and to check the status of everything on it you can put in maintenance mode. Although you can't do any updates from this mode, you can find out all sorts of info and check your screen etc.
On the 760 (and probably most of the 7xx series) touch the screen in the upper right corner (say near the battery level) and hold for at least 8 seconds. You'll know when you 're in maintenance mode as all the versions and settings appear with a very simple menu to navigate them.
Otherwise for updating, you do have to use the web updater.

The lastest update for the nüvi 760 is Ver 2.20 as of October 30 2007.
