Nuvi 360 and 660 Windshield mounts

Does anyone know if the windshield mounts for the Nuvi 360 and 660 are the same?
I ordered one of the 660's from Best Buy today and I am giving my 360 to my friend for Christmas. He is an over the road trucker and really needs a unit.
The reason I ask, is I bought an extra windshield mount for my 360, and if it will work on the 660, I will keep it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here.

Garmin Nuvi 660

.

The Garmin site shows different part numbers for the nüvi 360 (010-10815-00)and the nüvi 660 (010-10823-00) windshield mounts.

I hope this helps.

I think they're different

The 310/360 (and probably rest of the 3xx series) have a mini usb connector on the cradle, as you know. I *think* the 6xx uses the bigger plug (like the Streetpilot C5xx) on its cradle. (Even though the Streetpilot doesn't have a cradle, as such)

There's nothing like a bit of consistency wink

Thanks!

Thank you Guys. I knew nothing else was consistent with the units, but I thought I would ask.

Garmin Nuvi 660

I just bought a Nuvi 650,

I just bought a Nuvi 650, and tried to use the car mount for a Nuvi 350, and they don't match up. The 650 is larger, with a different plug-in for power.

Thank you

Thank you jsndrsn. An actual test works for me.

I didn't really need the extra hookup, but it's nice to know that it wouldn't have worked anyway.

My friend has his 18 wheeler and a pickup, so he will have a use for the extra hookup.

Stopped Using It

After too many times when the mount and GPS dropped from my windshield, I went to the bean bag type I think called friction mount. It has worked so much better. My daughter-in-law's does the same thing.

By the way, I cleaned the windshield mount so it wasn't a problem with dirt.

Amazon has the friction mount for Nuvi 6xx for $27.

It is not a sign of weakness to need other people; it is a sign of strength to have them!

Two parts make up the "mount"

If you need ONLY the suction cup/swivel piece without the cradle/car adapter, all Nuvis use the same piece.
Take a look at Best Buy:

"Compatible with Garmin StreetPilot model C510, C530 and C550 GPS receivers and all Garmin nuvi GPS receivers (nuvi products require original mounting bracket)"

Well sort of...

That might be correct, ie all the Nüvis...but...

You also wrote:

The Nüvi suction mount 'thing' has a hinge in it that the StreetPilot mount doesn't. The ball is the same and so the Nüvi cradle piece will fit at a pinch, but it severely restricts the places you can mount it (because the lift-up aerial/antenna fouls on it).

I know, because I've tried it wink

Window Mounts

I hear the police and high way patrol officers are cracking down in California on any suction cup or obstructions placed on windshields.

After seeing this mention on Geeks.com online I believe it.

Quote: [Geeks]

NOTICE TO DRIVERS IN CALIFORNIA AND MINNESOTA

State law prohibits drivers in California and Minnesota from using suction mounts on their windshields while operating motor vehicles. Other state or local laws may also prohibit drivers from using suction cups on their windshields. Other dashboard or friction mounting options should be used. Computer Geeks does not take any responsibility for any fines, penalties, or damages that may be incurred as a result of disregarding this notice. (See California Vehicle Code Section 26708(a); Minnesota Statutes 2005, Section 169.71)

One thing to keep in mind about windshield mounts is there are at least two states I know of that don't allow anything attached to the windshield. Minnesota and California are the two I know about.
