when you bought your 660 you seen that sd card on the box right? the garmin travel guide north america... did you save that sd card to your unit or not??? cause i save mine in the unit and everytime i turn on my unit and i go to where to? and go extras features i got that FODORS NORTH AMERICA... and if i go to the travel guide i see that all categories which is i think they are the same in the extra features... thanks and i hope you can help me...

I think it's built into the Nuvi from the get go. I've never used the SD card and I still have the FODOR's stuff under "where to -> extras". It's also listed under the "travel kit - > travel guide".

To be honest, I don't know what's on the SD card because I never looked at it. So, I couldn't have loaded anything from the card to my Nuvi. Why would Garmin put what's on the SD card into the Nuvi's storage again? Weird.

Bummer, no SD card here. I had to buy the FODORS NORTH AMERICA and I bought the Savers one too. (Already use the savers several times.) But POI duplications sometimes happen.

One thing I've read is that

One thing I've read is that having an SD card in the slot can slow the screen redraw speed. I just tried this with my Garmin Travel Guide North America SD card and found this to be true, at least in simulation mode. This is with the latest 4.2 firmware update, which actually did increase (about 2x) my screen refresh speed, which is a good thing!

Has anyone experienced this slow down with an SD card? What about a card with music/pictures on it? I wonder why even having a card in would matter.

I suppose so, can't hurt, if you need more room, you can always delete vehicles you won't use, and voices too, that can save a lot of room, And I register everything I buy that cost $$.

Nuvi with Fodor's

I have a Nuvi 660. I bought the Fodor's SD card. I loaded the Fodor's on the 660. When I go to Where to->Extras I do not see the Fodor's, I see Custom POI's (all the poi's I loaded from POI factory). To get to the Fodor's I go to Travel Kit->Travel Guide->Fodor's NA. So I don't think Fodor's should be in both places. On the other hand maybe I did not understand the question. If I can be of further help please let me know

where trying to say is when you bought your 660 isnt the SD card came with it it says on the SD card is TRAVEL GUIDE NORHT AMERICA... so if you save that on your unit i think you gonna see FODORS NORTH AMERICA on WHERE TO? and go the extras features and you still gonna see that on TRVEL KIT go to travel guide features...

i think we got the same features on our unit cause we see fodors on the extra features and we see that too on the travel guide feature... Have you download something yet on your unit or still the same when you bought it???

I've uploaded tons of POIs

I've uploaded tons of POIs and dragged 'n dropped a bunch of mp3s... Beyond firmware updates, that's about it...

The point I was trying to make is I loaded Fodor's to the 660 and it does not appear in Where to. It only appears in Travel kit->Travel Guide Fodor's. If you see it in two places that is different from the way it appears on my 660. Maybe others can weigh in on this.

Display POI on nuvi 660

Hi!
Is there anyway to see my POI while I am driving (in driving view mode)? I just see red lights cameras when I approach them. It would be nice to see all the POI too. Thank you!
George.

No, unfortunately, you

No, unfortunately, you cannot pick what POIs can be displayed in the 3D mode. Garmin gave us NO control/settings other than the map detail. Obviously, map detail "most" will show the most info, but I set mine on detail "more" because I found the "most" setting to cause the screen redraws to be too slow.

If you have your zoom in far enough, you will see all the poi locations, for my nuvi350, it has to be zoomed in to at least 200 ft.

also, put the GPS map mode

also, put the GPS map mode in 2d view that'll help. the fodor's travel guide that is preloaded to the nuvi's is a sample. when you purchase the full guide it will install in the Extras

Do not understand Garmin TourGuide

Thank you, guys!

My next question is about Garmin TourGuide. I downloaded in installed files from http://www.geotourguide.com/ for Washington DC on my nuvi. "Proximity Pints->TourGuide" is set to "Auto Play". According to my understanding, my nuvi should automatically play corresponding mp3 file when I am approaching an object. Is this correct? Because this did not happened sad

Thank you for all your help!
George.

Your understanding is correct

When you look at each POI in the file, can you manually play the audio? If you hit "MAP", does it display in the correct place?

If I can get a copy of the file, I have a .gpi viewing tool that might give some insight into the contents of the file you have downloaded. How do I locate it at Geotourguide.com?
