If foders = folders...I am

If foders = folders...

I am not sure what you are talking about, it was a bit confusing. However, if you are talking about your custom POIs under "Extras", then you can delete your .gpi file(s) under the Garmin\POI folder (this is done through windows explorer).

I think you are talking about the Fodors POIs.

Connect your nuvi to your computer. Search the GARMIN drive and the SD card for a file named FODOR.GPI.

Copy that file to your computer in a SAFE place so you can restore it if something goes wrong.

Then, if you have two different copies of it, delete the one you don't want.

Then, copy the POI.GPI file from your GARMIN drive to your computer, and delete it from your GARMIN drive. This will remove ALL the items in your Extras.

Then you can reinstall any regular Custom POIs that you want on your nuvi.

Fodors Sample file removal

I could not find a file named fodors. I removed the poi file but Fodors is still there. I did a search of the drive and it did not find a fodors file either. Any suggestions?

What is Foders? You can also

What is Foders?

You can also run POI Loader again and delete all POIs and the reload just the ones that you want too

Foders

When you run the POI loader on the nuvi 660, it does not remove the Foders folder. Everything else, but not Foders. It must be imbedded somewhere in the software. I could not find it anywhere in the garmin program loaded on my 660.

Fodors is embedded in the

When you say you accidentally saved it...presumably you have an SD card with the Fodor's data on? If so, look on the SD card to find the name of the file - it will be something.gpi and then delete the corresponding file from the Nüvi.

Alternatively, what you're seeing, could just be a firmware bug. On the Nüvi 3xx, Travelguides (such as Fodor's), show up under "Travel Kit". On a Streetpilot C5xx, they show up under "Extras". Given that the Nüvi 6xx interface is a real mixture of the two, it wouldn't surprise me to see the same data in both places wink

If you don't have such a card, then it could even be 'demo' data, built-in to the firmware...if you do have a card, but it doesn't have any .gpi files on it - what files does it have?

EDIT - It looks other folk have provided an answer, while I was busy typing smile

i bought my garmin nuvi 660 on the box it got that sd card on it it fodors north america... i inserted the sd card on my nuvi 660 and saved it on my gps... on extras it is written like this FODORS NORTH AMERICA... do you think i can remove that?
thanks for the replies hope to hear more from you guys

So what files are on the SD card?

(You can access the card via the Nüvi's usb, you get one drive letter for the Nüvi and one for the card).

the sd card came with the

the sd card came with the box it says garmin travel guide north america? so if you check the garmin 660on extras features it says FODORS NORTH AMERICA and they are the same on my travel guide features?

?

If we're going to solve the mystery of which files you inadvertently copied onto the Nüvi, we're going to need you to have a look at the card - i.e with Windows Explorer and tell us what's on there.

i dont know how to explain

i dont know how to explain this to you.. it came in the box and it says garmin travel guide north america it was a sd card... what happened is i put the sd card on my unit scren says do i want to save it so i saved it... if you go to the extras feature it gonna appear FODOR NORTH AMERICA and if you go to the travel guide it will appear all categories....

.

What happens when you remove ALL the GPI files completely from your nuvi AND remove the SD card from the slot?

I think still gonna be the

I think still gonna be the same... though i have'nt tried it yet...

Fodor's North America

The Fodor's guides may have differing names depending on version. My Fodor's SD Card has no date, version or release information printed.

My guide is copied to the Nuvi, and can be found at:

\garmin\poi\D0469000C.gpi

On my Nuvi 660, the Fodor's North America is ONE file that may be accessed in either of two ways:

1.Travel Kit: Travel Guide: Fodor's North America

2.Where To?: Extras: Fodor's North America

If the guide is copied to the Nuvi, there will be no further prompts to install/copy it to the unit.

Hope this clarifies!

Is it possible that the nuvi

Is it possible that the nuvi asked if you want to copy the sd file to the unit and answered yes. Now you'll have a copy on the sd and also on the unit.
With the nuvi off, eject the sd card, then turn on the nuvi and see if you still see the fodors.

That's why I suggested to remove the SD card and remove ALL the GPI files from the unit.

Delete Fodor's Guide Success

In case this helps somebody out there, I deleted \garmin\poi\D0469000C.gpi off of my Nuvi 660, which consequently got rid of the Fodor's Guide out of my Custom POI folder. But, of course, before you try: backup, backup, backup.
