Run WebUpdater
Connect the nuvi and run the Garmin WebUpdater application. You will get a message of the new firmware being available.
Download the new firmware and quit the updater. Disconnect the nuvi from the computer. The next time you turn on the nuvi the firmware will load. You will see a progress bar as the firmware is installed.

The traffic update will not necessarily install the next time you turn on the Nuvi. It has to be connected via the traffic receiver/DC auto charger. It won't install running on battery or a non-traffic DC auto charger.

Thanks for that clarification. I forgot that part of the process.

I remember the first time my traffic firmware updated on the next startup in the car. At first, I thought something was wrong because it wasn't "normal". Until I read that it was updating the traffic software.
Takes less than a minute.
