I have a MAC G4 and used the Garmin POI loader and loaded the Combined Rest Areas and the HD dealer POI on my 550. When I did this were the alerts loaded at the same time? My Mac does not give me any screen that talks about alert distances. I know the locations are loaded because I can see them in the Extras but I do not know about the alerts.
If the alerts are there will I then get a message when I get close to a POI when I am on the map screen?
Thanks for any help.
I see that there is a Mac
I see that there is a Mac discussion area but I do not see how I could move my post. Help please.

If you are using the latest POI Loader for Mac 2.0.2.1 you need to select Manual loading of speed and proximity alerts. You will then select a distance or speed for each of your POI files.
As you approach a POI with a proximity setting you will see a red banner flash and hear a bell alerting you to the approaching POI.
Hope this helps.

Onscreen Check.

When you look at a POI entry on the Zümo, it will tell you if it has any associated alert information. You will get something like:
Alert Information
Distance: 1320ft
Speed:30mph
The only alerts this doesn't hold true for, are TourGuides.
See this FAQ about setting up alerts. It was derived using the PC version of POI Loader of course; it would be nice to know if it also applies to the MAC version.

The latest MAC
The latest MAC Version (2.0.2.1 Beta ) of POI Loader also sets alerts automatically or manually as the PC version does ! I use both the PC and MAC POI Loaders - depends which puter I happen to be on !

POI's
Thanks for the help, I noticed I did not have the latest version of POI loader so I now have it and the POI's loaded fine. Thank you
FAQ,
I read The FAQ and if I understand correctly if I was not going to go by the POI on my route it will not notify me. I thought if you just got within the distance of the designated alert area you would be informed of the POI.
As an example I have loaded Harley Davidson dealers but if I am on a freeway and will be traveling by a HD dealer which is located within sight of the freeway but on a different named road I will not be notified because it is not on my designated route. Is that correct?
