Just Got My 750

I pre-ordered from MEgaGPS, & it shipped on the 7th. A wee bit later than some of the other dealers, but the $489.99 price3 with free shipping was a deal maker.

It replaced my 660 that had a battery go bad on me, so I'm pretty familiar with the interface. I love the QWERTY feature & the new menu layout. Of course there's plenty that's fixable, but it's still a great improvement in use-ability - especially the route VIA's. OK... adding them is a bit clumsy, but not THAT bad.

My biggest gripe is that the cheap Garmin SOB's didn't even include an AC charger. I had to buy one on Ebay for twenty bux. Also, no cute little case like the one that came with my 660.

The kids gave me the Fodor's SD card for my birthday. It's nice, but it too has its shortcomings. What it really needs is to come on with the POI's for the area in which you are currently traveling. Having to input the city rather stinks.

No, to input some new POI's.

New toys are great, aren't they?

Congrats. I got my 660 not

Congrats. I got my 660 not long ago and still love it. Regarding the AC charger I've never used mine so I can respect their decision not to include it. Ultimately someone pays for each add-in so having the choice to forego it is a plus in my book.

QWERTY seems like a big improvement. It still amazes that in this day age designers think the general population will prefer ABC order to QWERTY. What percentage of the population that owns a high end GPS *doesn't* use a PC on a regular basis?

Got my Nuvi 650

No wall charger no case either.

The 650 doesn't come with

The 650 doesn't come with either. I bought the $20 leather case (nice) but I didn't buy the wall charger, didn't think it was necessary.

John - with a Garmin 650 and a 750

QWERTY

I showed this great feature to my wife. She types well over 85wpm, so I thought it would be a welcome addition to her.

Oddly, she thought it was a useless feature & didn't even KNOW the term "QWERTY." Go figger. Of course, she still can't figure out the remote for our TV after five years, either.

Looks like Garmin is eliminating the charger & case on its newer packaging. Great hoiday hints, .. eh?

How much space in memory

I just bought a 750 for my wife for Christmas and can't wait to play with it. But, alas, I have to wait for her to open it on Christmas morning. I have read the specs and manual online and can't find this information.

Does anyone know how much internal storage space is available for mp3's?

Also, what is the largest capacity SD card this unit will recognize? I found info on the Garmin site for the 600 series, but it hasn't been updated for the 700 series yet. The 600 series will take a 4 Gig. I'm hoping that the 700 series will also.

Appreciate any feedback.

I just got mine 2 days ago. I believe when I hooked it up there was something like 500GB free (before I added topo maps). You could make more room though by deleting unused languages, voices and car icons.

Not sure about the SD. I'm using 2GB

No kidding. Even my wife's older SP 2720 had a software update that added the QWERTY option a little while after I bought it. The Nüvi 660 is ABC and I contacted Garmin about a QWERTY update for the Nüvi line and they said there were no plans to do so. Strange as the Nüvi line is much newer than the Street Pilot line...

I use a 4GB SD card in my nüvi 760.
