HELP PLEASE (nuvi stuck on loading maps)

Can somebody help me i have a Garmin nuvi 350 i made the mistake and bought it on ebay with no warranty (some yellow form that came in the box). I was putting POI on it when my chair ran over the usb cable and disconnected it from computer, and now when i turn it on it is stuck on loading maps screen. It won't detect it on the PC anymore, tried erasing user data, maitance mode will work but nothing happens. Garmin will not fix it cause i dont have the yellow form tried contacting other people who fix it and they all say software issue's to expensive to fix. So i am stuck asking for help wherever i can get it. Thanks for any suggestions

I really think it would be interesting to hear how a chair ran over the cable. But that may be another forum. On my 660 there is a button that returns it back to factory spec's (Except the Garmin lock) Does the 350 also have that feature? Wish I could be of more help, but I am still new to the GPS world.

That yellow card contains codes to unlock and upgrade your GPS. Mucho important! Check the box again! Maybe your Garmin may be stolen? Anyways, try a new usb cord. Make sure its marked with a garmin tag. Jake

Strange combination of faults!

Damaged USB I can understand....stuck on "Loading Maps" I can understand too. One causing the other is unusual, unless it got disconnected right in the middle of the transfer of POI.GPI.
Assuming the USB connection still actually works...the fix normally entails loading modified firmware that doesn't try to load maps, or POI's.
To do this, you have to use the Nüvi's 'Pre-boot' mode. The procedure may vary - but on the Nüvi 310 you just have to hold down the Power button. If you then connect it to the USB, it enters "Garmin USB GPS" mode, rather than Mass-storage mode.
The firmware has to be in the ".RGN" format, using Updater.exe (ie not the flavours normally distributed by Garmin). I have such thing for the Nüvi 310/360, but not the 350.
There's a user on www.gpspassion.com who's knocked a few together for other units. Have a search around on there.
