Multiple Alert Sounds w/StreetPilot i3?

The StreetPilot i3 does not support the use of custom sound files for POI files.

The default is used for every alert and can be easily overlooked.

So is a way to select a different (aka: built in) alert sound for a POI file?

Multiple Alert Sounds w/StreetPilot i3?

Your manual should tell you how to change voices

The only option listed in in

The only option listed in in the manual is to turn the "Attention Tone" on or off. There is no way to change the tone and I'm happy with the British woman you keeps me company and would prefer to keep her around.

See this FAQ. You might find that it has two built-in sounds - one for Proximity Alerts and one for Speed Alerts. Sticking a "1" in all your POI file names should transform them all to 1mph Speed Alerts.

I'm not familiar with the I3, so I'm not sure if this is applicable.

Another technique, would be to find the constituent .WAV file within the .VPM voice file and change it to something else. Again, I'm making assumptions about the I3 that might not be true.

You may have found the answer for me my friend!

Rather than count on the filename I've been selecting 'manual' when loading the POI file. That allows me select if I want to set up a "Proximity" or "Speed" alert for each file. Until now I've been choosing Proximity and setting it at 1200 feet. Later today I'll reload the file selecting Speed > 1MPH and see what happens.

Cheers!

Well I did a test today and the i3 uses the same sound for both the "Proximity" and "Speed" alert. So I'm still searching for a solution if anyone has other ideas . . . .

The difference is that Proximity alerts you 1 time where Speed continues to alert you until you slow down or are out of the area.

well...
