Mapsource World Maps on Nuvi?

I don't believe the Mapsource maps will work. Nuvi maps have to be in a compressed format like the Navigator NT that is pre installed. It has to be an NT version maps.

Not sure about the World Maps however I did load my old TOPO Maps onto the 660. They worked great. Give it a try if you still have the software.

How do you do it?

You will need a copy of Mapsource, update your version of Mapsource to the latest from garmin. connect the 660 to the computer using the included cable. Select the world map as a map set to send to the unit and click on the send to unit button. That is how I sent the Topo Maps to my unit and they worked very well during my trip this weekend.

I just received the Mapsource CD from Garmin. Thanks for the responses so far.

Sorry 'bout the questions:
1 How do you remove the maps if you no longer want to use them?
2 How do they appear on the unit? As a map separate from the City Nav?
3 If you use Topo maps will there be a conflict in using both City Nav and Topo maps?
4 Can you install the maps to the card instead of main memory?

I just called today about getting a copy of Mapsource for my nuvi 660 they said it doesn't come with one and I dont need one. I also sent a text message to tech support because I have read that some people are getting them. Did the Mapsource come with your nuvi 660 or did you have to send for it?

No Nuvi comes with the Mapsource disk.

I was able to load World Maps onto the Nuvi. You just cannot navigate on the roads. It is still helpful.
