You are one of the lucky ones.

I sent an E-mail and was told by a rep that the cost was $15 for the Mapsource DVD. I called the next day and got a rep that just sent it to me for free. It pays to be persistent with Garmin.

Garmin Support

I have had several experiences with Garmin support. They have never failed to impress me.

Garmin customer service is good but....

Garmin customer service is good but every time I call I had to wait on the phone at least 15-30 minutes before I can talk to the Customer service.

Garmin

I have contacted Garmin 4 different times. Each time they went out of their way to help.

Special Repair

My GPSmap 60CS has a bad USB connection, but I didn't want to send it back for Garmin's $150 reconditioning because everything else is in perfect shape. So I asked if there was anything they could do for me. They agreed to just fix the USB port for $75. Now, it will be back to perfect in every way.

Customer Support

They have ALWAYS worked hard for me, that's why I keep buying more Garmin stuff.

Have you ever thought to email the person that helped you and thank them? That would be something that would be a shot in the arm for them and encourage them to put even more effort into their customer support skills.

Quality Service

I'm the idiot that mistakenly deleted the gmapprom.img file so had to call support. They were very helpful and am sending me the file via mail. I was very pleased with not only the result but how quality service minded they were. BUT waiting for UPS is driving me craaaaazy!

Yes, Garmin has the best service...

To get a little more insight into the quality of Garmin's incredibly excelleny customer service, check this node (thread) out.

As to the wait time on the phone....would you rather get a rep quickly who is anxious to terminate your call with little or poor information, or would you rather wait a little while and be connected with someone who knows their stuff. You then realize that the calls take longer because the Garmin reps are REALLY trying to help their customers.

Good customer service grows business

It appears Garmin has better than average customer service. It just seems to me that our manufacturers aim at fast-bucks and forget that customer service is vital to business growth. Why all these MBA's can't realize this? What are our business schools teaching these business leaders of the future?

-

What the schools might be teaching is to give customers what they want. We want all the features we can think of, we want them right now and we want them to upgrade the earlier models so we don't have to buy a new unit to have the new features.

There has to be some compromise somewhere.

Garmin may have cut costs to remain competative by not including a case or 110v charger with the Nuvi 760, but they have provided added features and have not compromised their excellent support.

Garmin's Support

One thing I have never noticed, and never heard anyone complain about, is not being able to understand Garmin's Customer support. At least they are hiring from home. Thanks Garmin.

Accents are hard to understand

Yes, it is very nice that you don't have to continue to say "What? Can you repeat that?" every other sentence. Strong accents are very difficult to understand.

I wonder why Garmin couldn't have sent you a zipped file via email and avoid the wait and shipping costs.
