GPS Sun Shade Visors

Having my 660 held by a bean-bag on the dashboard, I've suddenly realized that a sun shade visor, wrapped around the unit, would be pretty useful: better screen's view in direct sunlight, no sunrays hitting and warming the unit... any thoughts about?
I've already seen this stuff on www.mountguys.com & www.glarestomper.com but the idea of gluing some velcro tape onto the unit doesn't sound too appealing to me...

Hi Nuvi Addict,

I agree with you when it comes to gluing some velcro tape on to the unit. I started out with the (included) windshield mount and then went to the bean bag mount, however, the sunlight was still a problem. Now I use the "Vent Mount" and the sunlight is no longer an issue. Once you have the Nuvi in the position you want, there's a threaded wheel on the back of the unit, allowing you to prevent the unit from changing it's position. Check it out...

Plan B is here, where's plan A?

Hello, tailspin,

Thanks for the suggestion, that would definitely work as plan B, even with the sunrays still shining upon the unit.
My fault, I forgot to mention that I'm a little "paranoid" about this little gizmo and putting it directly into a cold (in the summer) or hot (in the winter) air flow, not to mention the vent's obstruction and the inevitable dust accumulating over time, makes me looking for another options.
To be honest, I was thinking about clipping a rectangle from a papersheet, wrapping it around the unit and holding it with a rubberband... yes, I know, sounds like "amateurs' night" but seems to be the less intrusive method, as far as I can imagine.

I am not certain you will get a clear enough view of the sky in that location. Have you tired it to see if that would make a good location?

Beanbag on dashboard

Sure did, Mark, already took a 14 hrs. (!) trip from Dayton, OH to Jacksonville, FL; my 660 was flawleslly working but I wasn't too happy with the sun warming up the unit (call me paranoid if you want smile
On the other hand, LOTS of people are using the beanbags w/o any problems having a clear enough view of the sky from the dashboard... actually, the vent mounting seems to be a little worser, theoretically speaking.

I get reception in my house.

I get reception in my house. They are radio waves, so they can penetrate to a certain point.
