Refurbished unit is good depending on the price. I had a friend who bought a refurbished unit and it look like new and work like new. Warranty is the same with the new one. Like I said it before depending on price is matter.

I wouldn't be afraid of a refurbished unit if:
1. I could return it if I got a dud.
2. The price makes it a super deal; but doing a 'best price-check' on the internet of a new unit usually will reveal there's not that much of a price difference.

Garmin Refurbished Unit

Yeah Garmin wants 225 for a refurbished one from garmin in exchange for another one I think its a good deal

Refurbished

Yeah I think 225 is pretty good considering the Unit was worth $799 when it first came out

What model?

What model are you looking at? What is the NOW price of a new unit?

Refurbished Unit

Nuvi 350 now price is anywhere from 350-499

As long as you can return

As long as you can return it! If not, I would get the one from walmart for $368.

Depends on the map version and warranty too

If the map set is older and you need a map update, that will cost $60-70. A new unit with old maps (e.g., if not Garmin's 2008 set) will get an update free. Is the price still better should you have to buy a map update? What is the warranty on a refurbished unit, is it a year? That is another consideration to think about.

My Nuvi 350 got fried and

My Nuvi 350 got fried and Garmin sent me a replacement unit. The unit was supposedly refurbished but I've noticed no difference. In fact, this one actually works which is a real bonus! smile

Correct

You'd basically want to make sure of three issues:
1) Return rights
2) Warranty
3) Currency of the maps

But I would think a refurb directly from Garmin should be a pretty good bet if you're satisfied on these three counts. It's their reputation on the line.

First Rate

Garmin is first rate, I'd take a refurb from them anytime. Refurbs (at all companies) go through extensive checks and are usually done by one person or one team. Thay usually have an interest in pushing out excellent work.

Got my unit back Garmin replaced the Unit and uploaded all of my POI's from the damaged unit, included a car charger and they even updated the maps to 2008. Garmin is the best I don't care what anybody says
