How do I set a new Location Quickly

How do I set a new location quickly with my Garmin 680? If my antenna is off, I can select "View Map", then click anywhere on the map to get the "Set Location" button. From there I have to scroll across state or country to get to the new location before clicking on the "Set Location" button.

If I start by selecting a location in "Favorites" then click "Show Maps", I don't get the "Set Location" button, only the "Go Button".

What I'm trying to do is quickly jump to location "A" and from there simulate a route to location "B" so I can see the distance and expected routing information. If someone knows how to do this, please let me know. - Thanks

Try this out: Select Where

Try this out:

Select Where to?, then select Browse Map. You should get a Set Location option.

On my C330 I can go to my favorites, select any trip, select show map and then Set Location is optional. Not sure if you have that option.

Agree

I find that using the "browse map" and dragging the map to where I want to "set location" is quicker than going thru the spelling of city etc.

That is, if I know approximately on the map where something is. If you have no clue where the place physically is, then you might want to use the spelling route.

I planned a 1400 mile trip

I planned a 1400 mile trip in Ireland and I did it by starting with View Map and scrolling to the trip leg starting point and then pressing the Set Location button. After this I select View Map and scroll to the destination (the Go button shows). Then touch Go. With the antenna down, select No to simulating the driving route. This worked best for me.

Browse Map

I found that a lot of addresses in the country are not in the database so the only way to find them is the browse map. I generally locate a place using Google Earth if I am not sure of the location and then use the browse map to set a destination.

Get Lat Long coords for new location

I can do that on my nuvi350 too. Once there, how can I obtain the coordinates for the new location(Lat/Long)?

I have seen the future and it is now!

Here's a suggestion Garmin

The Nuvi 680 will do what you said in the first paragraph but it's the second paragraph I want. Thanks everyone for all the replies, just don't see a way to do it without scrolling.

That would be a nice feature to add Garmin if you're following this site.

Once I select a Favorite, then select "Show Map", give me a button on the bottom that says "Set Location" in addition to the "Back" and "Go" button.
