Kingsport, TN article

There was an article in our local paper which mentioned what to me was an astounding statistic. Kingsport has I believe 6 redlight cameras which have been operating 4 or 5 months. They have recorded 19000 violations in that short period of time. They didn't say if each one of those resulted in a ticket being issued but at a $100 each that's a lot of money. They of course want to put in more cameras but they never seem to mention if accidents have been reduced at these intersections which was supposed to be the point.

Strange but true

Living in western NC and periodically riding my motorcycle in eastern TN, I do find it strange that Kingsport would have them when the current red-light camera file that I have does not show any for nearby Johnson City. If the file is correct, strange but true.

Johnson City

I believe JC does not have any (yet).

I haven't seen anything mentioned from JC or Bristol that indicates they are even considering them. There is a very small town outside Kingsport called Mt. Carmel that is going to install a speed camera along hwy 11w.
