Testing red light POI list

I've downloaded the red light camera POI list, including an icon and sound. Since (fortunately) there are no cameras anywhere nearby, is there a way to test that I've loaded this properly.

Actually, testing ANY POI files would be a good thing. See if I get what I'd expect to get. I've told that you only see some POIs on maximum zoom though.

Anyone have any suggestions other than the obvious 'well go drive to the camera' (with my luck, it wouldn't work and I'd get dinged for a ticket! smile

Thanks

If you turn the GPS antenna off (flip the antenna down on some models, go to the System Menu on others), you can Browse the map and use the "Sec Loc." button to set the current location on the map as your current location.

So, set the map location to somewhere near a location you want to test, then select a waypoint or some other point beyond the POI location you want to test and hit GO!

I've noticed that you have the nuvi 680. I believe it has the simulate function built in. It works great for testing proximity alerts and TourGuide files. I use it on my nuvi 650.

As MM says, drop the GPS antenna flap, you don't need it for simulations, and run these steps on your GPSr.

1) Close the GPS antenna to disable the GPS tracking, you don't need it to simulate.
2) Use these key steps; "wrench icon" -> "System" -> "Simulator". Select the "On" choice and hit "OK"
3) Press "Back" a few times ( or hold the "Back" key long enough to reach the main screen ) to get to the main screen.
4) You'll have to use the "Where to?" mode a few times to select your starting location then again to set your destination. Once those 2 points are set you press "Go!", the GPSr will "drive" to ( or past ) your POIs and you should see the effect of setting proximities or red-light points.

If you link MP3 files to POI files, you'll hear the sound file played if you programmed the simulator correctly.
