Just An Idea Miss POI what do you and JM think about Being able to paste a picture in the forum Topic so someone can see a pic of what you are taking about for Example if some ask what does a certain thing look like you can paste a pic of it

I understand the desire for this (and sometimes I'd like to have the feature), but I would request against it. I've seen too much abuse of this on other forums.
Nearly the same result can be achieved with a link to a picture.
Just my two cents.

Sometimes "A picture is worth a thousand words". Case in point: poi loader buttons
hornbyp setup a webpage to display the problem. How many know how to do this, or even have the resources to do this? This feature would have saved a lot of guessing and time spent trying to solve a problem if the author could have posted a screen-shot. Yes, sometimes a link will do the same thing IF you know where the link is. If we don't allow anything that may be abused, this forum would be blank. Maybe just allow screen shots of the GPS and computer. I think the members posting on this forum are responsible ... let's give it a try.

I would like to vote for the inclusion of pictures also.
BUT, I would hope that there can be some restrictions on this idea, i.e. size of pic, # of pics added, etc.
Admin "costs" and storage space on webservers should always be a consideration when new ideas are presented.
I have seen some pictures included in the POI file links ( http://www.poi-factory.com/node/3357 ) , I'm curious as to how that works.

I would vote a yes for inclusion of photos. As far as web space, the webmaster can control the size of pic. being posted. Usually a 640 x 480 is max size. I would like to see different GPS mountings that users have come up with. A picture is worth a thousand words, and still you can't get enough words in to explain what you want.

I've been looking for a better tool to handle pictures. The one we have right now can attach pictures to some types of pages (like POI Files), but it doesn't work with forums.
I'll keep looking . . .

I agree with MM, I have seen many abuse of this capability.
What I would recommend is that we have a capability to upload pictures similar to icons and reference those pictures from threads. That way, you only see them if you want to see them. I've seen threads on other forums that you spend too much time scrolling down to read texts because people are posting ton of pictures.
Also forcing to upload pictures allow Jon to limit the size of the pictures so you won't see someone posting 5MB picture.
