Nuvi durability

I always keep my Nuvi in the leather case unless I am using it. I feel the leather case provides much needed durability. I accidentally dropped my Nuvi about 3 feet on to solid concrete today. I nervously powered it on and it still works fine.

I would like to hear other stories either bad or good about Nuvi durability.

Does a Streetpilot count?

I dropped a Streetpilot C510 on the drive and put a nice gouge in the top of the case. It was still working ok though.

Garmin very kindly replaced it F.O.C. when the USB port stopped working - possibly not an unconnected event wink

Durability

I have sent my poor Nuvi crashing across the dashboard into the window or door way too many times while on vacation and no problems at all. Got me a bean bag mount to take on vacation now. Not sure the old Nuvi could take too much more of that!

Officer I'm sorry I was going the wrong way on that one-way street but my GPS told me to turn left ... Oh, I'm still getting a ticket, okay then the GPS will see ya in court!

Poor Nuvi

My Nuvi 350 has been dropped twice from about 4 ft onto concrete driveway. There is a dent in the upper left corner and the lower right corner of the unit. Each time I thought "well, so much for that", but each time, it powers on and navigates without a problem. Good little unit!

I did exactly the same thing. I got out of the car with the open end of the case looking down, and it slipped out. It's sure a sick feeling while your bending over to pick it up. It just barely roughed one corner, and a nail emery board fixed that. They must be built by Timex, 'cause you give them a licking and they keep on....giving directions......

Better suction cups

I have had my fall of the windshield a few time but no damage.

Suction Cup -

The suction cup is notorious for coming loose. Mind dropped off a couple of times and "slammed" against the dash but still works. I had enough of that action and got a bean bag. No problems since.

Still working

Usually put Nuvi in it's holder before leaving car, but was in a hurry. Talking on cell phone, lost track of it. Fell about 4 ft onto parking lot. Nice bounce and dent on upper right corner. A few choice words before checking it's status, Nuvi turned on and worked fine, whew. Also glad it didn't fall on it screen.

Didn't learn from earlier incident. Did same thing again. Dent on lower left corner this time. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Durability

I have flown with mine a lot (sometimes 3-5 times a week) and it still works great. (I always put it in a carry on). I have also dropped it a few times with no ill effects.
