Select POI catagory on c330 garmin

I have the c330 is there anyway to set the unit up to select say 1 POI instead of all. i.e. Red light cameras or ice cream store. What I have been doing was downloading ice cream store and when I finished going to them I would redownload red light cameras. I really dont want to have all the the POI's and have it ring too much but ring only for the type of POI I need at that moment.

Ice Cream Alert

You have it Alert for all of the ice cream stores?

When you use POI Loader select Manual mode and you will be able to set alerts, or not, for each of your files. I suggest keeping all of your POI on board: you never know when - perhaps while waiting for the light to turn green - you may get a yen for some Rocky Road.

If you want to be able to change from one moment to the next, you may be out of luck. Does that c330 have a sd card? If so, you could swap your red light sd card for your ice cream store card. It still seems like a goofy idea, but who am I to say..................

There is a way to build your POI file (you may want to search using "gpx") so that one ice cream store alerts and the other doesn't and one red light alerts at a quarter mile and another at an eighth. That's not what you're talking about, though. Right?

Cheers.

.

The 330 won't read Custom POIs from the SD card.

What is GPX? Also, I tried

What is GPX? Also, I tried to put it on the SD card by it does not seem to do anything. The card goes in and thats it. Any thoughts?

What does the SD slot do

What does the SD slot do anyway. Everything I put in it does nothing. How can I get to use the slot?

I am a nuvi 660 user and I have no experience with the c330, so I looked it up under the POI Factory menu item "GPS Models." Apparently, the c330 is not able to read custom POIs from a SD card.

Read all about the Garmin Streetpilot C330 by clicking this line.

I think the c330 uses the card for maps.

BTW, you can use the POI Factory Search to find topics relating to GPX.

On the 330 if you don't intend to load maps, then the SD card slot serves no purpose.

What kind of maps would you

What kind of maps would you load/ It already comes with the USA. Would it be for the park and water ways?//

.

Other regions such as Europe. Or Topo or BlueChart maps if they are compatible with the unit.

You can put Alaska & Canada, etc. on an SD card and they would then be available on your unit. Do a search on this site for how to do that, if you like...
