POI Files On BBBike.org Garmin Cycle Vs. Garmin Ontrail Vs. OpenMapChest

I have added various non-Garmin maps on some of my Garmin GPS navigators. One of the things that I find interesting is the POIs that are available when using the various maps. I will show some examples below when I select Categories > Gas Stations.

City Navigator North America NT 2026.30 ALL US

The first station shown is a bp in lower case letters with the street address displayed.

Garmin Cycle (BBBike.org)

The first station and all following stations display as Unnamed, but they do show the same distance away, which is 2.3 mi south of me.

Garmin Ontrail (BBBike.org)

The first station shown is a Bp with B capitalized. The city name is shown with a comma and ABC following it. Some of the following stations shown are listed as Unnamed.

OpenMapChest United States/US Midwest

The first station shown is a Bp with B capitalized. The remainder of the information looks like the City Navigator North America NT 2026.30 ALL US information.

Does the POI file loaded on the Garmin device all come from City Navigator and each map selected chooses a different way of displaying (or not displaying) the POI information?

No Garmin Data. It's Illegal.

None of the third party map providers use Garmin data. Legally, they can't. They use open source POI data scraped from publicly available sources, just as their maps are open source.
