Driving on 4-5 lane expressway:
“Caution!”
“Reports of something in the road 5 miles ahead”
That is something I’ve never heard before!
We eventually came across a metal or plastic garbage container spinning around 3 lanes to my left, and, a round (Metal?) lid rolling left to right across the highway.
Right turn signal on, watched and calculated, then, after rear view mirror glance, swerve right… then back left.
Missed it! Now I highly doubt that our Phones would not have warned us!!

Sounds more like an Alert from WAZE, not the Garmin unit.
Maybe something new added to the Traffic receiver?

Southbound Between Napa and Oakland on I80 or possibly I580?
Phone was on airplane mode, no app to Garmin.

I haven't seen that particular report yet but I have been seeing pop up ads for nearby local businesses appear on the GPS.
The ones you're seeing are much more useful!

I just googled and found that the Edge 1050 has a community hazard feature. The RDS of the FM traffic signal appears to be able to transmit hazard info also, though I don't know how it gets there. Traffic info is picked up with sensors, cameras, etc. Hazard info would need to be a community input thing - unless unusual movement of vehicles on the road can be sensed as a hazard.
