Gettysburg PA trip

We just spent 5 days in Gettysburg PA. It was a return trip and our previous trip was likely around 2000. What a different place! The visitor center was redone in 2008 and is at a new location. Huge building! Also went to Harpers Ferry and Antietam, a comfortable one day trip from G’burg for the two locations. Antietam’s visitor center has also been redone.

A bonus which was unknown at time of scheduling was this weekend was the Remembrance Day weekend celebration. Remembrance Day is a longstanding Gettysburg tradition, commemorating the anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's iconic Gettysburg Address, delivered on November 19, 1863. The town was full of locals wearing garb from the Civil War era.

My nuvi 2689, with latest map, experienced several hiccups in that it couldn't locate where I was or had me a few hundred feet off the road. A shutdown and restart would normally fix the issue. Some people in my car were trying to follow my route on phones without too much success. Few if any cell towers through the Catoctin Mountains.

Is it already November? Sheesh.

there's no place like home

Stayed home on Saturday.

Hockey practice, rode bikes on a trail, then practiced hockey, took the kid out to a fast food joint, and after all that, let him play with his tablet. He didn't want to wake up until 10:30 AM EST on Sunday, so we had to go to church later. Kind of a full day, without really leaving home.

p.s. ice time is so precious, figured out that if we leave the house 6:10 AM EST and no later, we can squeeze in 15 more min of skating before practice starts at 7 AM. Sometimes with these strokes of sheer genius, I scare myself.

Nowhere

Only a couple of shopping trips.

It’s amazing how doctors….

….just seem to take their time and not get in a hurry. That’s one thing about my VA doc, it’s quick in and quick out. Not so much for my other doctors.

There were two nurses in my exam room (primary care). Since that was very odd, they spoke up and said, we're from downtown. We're here to teach the doctor that he must see a patient every 8 minutes. This had to have been 10 years ago. I bet that number is down to 2-3 in 2024.
