Environmental Zones on the new Garmin map

On the most recent release of the Garmin HERE maps (2025.20), I noticed that there is the option for Environmental Zones (Always Ask, Avoid, Allow) in Navigation. It wasn’t there for the 2025.10 maps, so they must have added it again. Although, I can’t seem to find a single example of an Environmental Zones in the U.S. does anyone have any ideas? There isn’t much info about them online.

What Garmin says

see https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=jylelouBzG5UnIj227eP5A.

Basically "Environmental Zones are areas with certain travel restrictions. These restrictions will vary from one location to another (e.g. restrictions on non-commercial driving during certain hours, restricting certain license plates on specific days, etc.). Be sure to check local rules and regulations before driving in an Environmental Zone."

From the wording, personally I would have perhaps called it "Temporary travel restriction" options. No sense making my case with a programmer however as long ago I learned they are always correct.

Oh I guess that makes sense.

Oh I guess that makes sense. It doesn’t seem like they are that big of a deal, since I’ve never seen them before but I just thought it was interesting that before there wasn’t an option for Environmental Zones and now there is.
