At 278 days since the last map release.
Release Date history for North American map: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/42417

The last one (2024.10 > 2024.20) was 280 days so maybe we'll see it soon?

Don't be holding your breath

Recent new map have shown little improvements so don't be expecting much new with the next one.

Yes!

It’s time for a new thread and a new map.

Just remember.

What do you want from life?
To kidnap an heiress
Or threaten her with a knife?

What do you want from life?
To get cable TV
And watch it every night

There you sit, a lump in your chair
Where do you sleep
And what do you wear
When you're sleepin'?

What do you want from life?
An Indian guru
To show you the inner light

What do you want from life?
A meaningless love affair
With a girl that you met tonight

How can you tell when you're doin' alright?
Does your bank account swell
While you're dreamin' at night?

How do know when you're really in love?
Do violins play when you're touching the one
That you're lovin'? oh

What do you want from life?
What do you want from life?
Someone to love
And somebody you can trust

What do you want from life?
What do you want from life?
To try and be happy
While you do the nasty things you must

What do you want from life?
What do you want from life?
What do you want from life?
What do you want from life?

A Mac truck, a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped
A Winnebago, hell, a herd of Winnebagos
We're giving 'em away
Or how about a McCulloch chainsaw

A Las Vegas wedding, a Mexican divorce
A solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot
Or a baby's arm holding an apple?

So what do you want from life?

Now about that update?

Finallly Did It!

Finally updated both old nüvi 760 units. Going on a 4-5 week camping trip soon and decided updated maps would be a good thing. Of course I also need to update the Red Light Camera POI and the Rest Area POI but we don't leave for another 4 weeks so there is still plenty of time for that.

I am still waiting for my car’s navigation update

Supposed to have been in May. Then June. Then July. Then August. Now September! The web site says that maps are updated twice a year. In spring and in the fall. Last map update was October of 2023. If they postpone it another month, it will be a yearly update! Bummer!!!

I have a Garmin based nav in my 2013, they want $100 for an update and the update is many version out of date. No thanks, I'll keep my DS61 updated for free.

Maps

They cant make any money on free life time maps. and there selling less GPS systems. between the cars coming out with built in GPS and phone GPS systems are improving how much longer will they give away free map updates, they may go to 1 update a year then what.

Updates

I added the third new map release this year
North America
Australia
NZ
all updated, -the rest of the world did to, but I Haven't been anywhere but, for years
4 map updates /year, every year, so far for 20+ years
TomTom haven't changed their policy since the first gps I bought

It has gotten easier to update the maps -the gps stays on the windscreen and connects by wifi in the garage

"I see home, do you want me to check for updates?"
"Found, map corrections, Found Ephemeris"
"Installing"
or
"Found map update, this will take some time, will download and switch off when complete"

all sound hilarious when using the Stephen Hawking voice

I drove for a living for around 30 or more years, maps were life's blood to me. Even when GPS came out I still had a backpack full of paper maps for places I might be.

Agreed, soberbyker!

As I discover new places, the GPS becomes more important!

and GPS in cars I've owned have been too $$$ to upgrade, and were buggy with what was loaded in them from the beginning! Garmin's aren't buggy.... So I use that in car with built in GPS!!!

My Jeep has a Garmin based GPS built in and it's great if I run into a closed road in an area I know my way through on one route only. They want $150 to 'update' the maps with a year or two out of date maps. No Thanks, did it once and found out how out of date their map updates were.

I still carry my Garmin DS 61 and use it if I am knowingly going to an unfamiliar area since it's always up to date.

I'm retired now but in my work truck my stand alone Garmins were an important tool, with the backpack of paper maps and mapbooks as a backup.

I think Chrysler/Jeep use a Garmin Nav system. But that probably doesn't mean one can load a Nuvi update. Other than that, I have seen updates on eBay for my Toyota at about 1/2 price - HOWEVER, they aren't very forthcoming about what year the update is, so getting the latest one requires diligence. I have seen 4 year old updates there.

Bottom line, it is cheaper to get a Nuvi than to update an in car Nav.

By November?

Looks like maybe just 2/year now. I certainly hope by November travel we have fresh maps.

yes, I did mention the Jeep is Garmin based, but as you say you can't just load your "nuvi" update to it. There is a work around way to do it but you lose most extra features and load the map as a supplemental. But that's for another forum.

ugh

I ended up buying a portable Carplay/AA device so I can use up-to-date maps.

My street built 4+ years ago still is not on Garmin's maps.

time for new map

time for new map

we only

user our 2350 for NYC rlc and speed cams.

It's loaded with the one that was pay from Garmin, as well. Putting new POIs does not delete it as it once did.

That unit is from 2011--it has really held up. My first ever, was the 660 and it burned out in 3 years.

Anyway, I loaded the newest map Friday night, and saw I had not touched it for over a year.

If I'm not mistaken, new cars already know about rlc cams and speed cams, at least my sis in law's base Hyundai did in Chicago.

Another Monday Bump

While we continue to wait for the next map release. smile

Can I ask what vehicle you are waiting to update?
My 23 Arteon required a subscription to update so it goes unused and 007(a 3597) sticks to the windshield.
