So, recently my DS76 started to suddenly dim the screen and tell me that the power had been lost and that it was going to shut down. I could touch "Cancel" and could keep going, but with bright sunlight and sunglasses, it was almost impossible to read the screen. Made for "Distracted Driving". This only happened on a hot day and when the DS76 was in the sun. Not good when you are on I-95 in Richmond during rush hour. The DS76 would go back to normal after a while.
When the DS76 tried to shut down, I noticed that the cigarette lighter power adaptor light would also go out. I thought that maybe that was the cause. Got a replacement, but the problem was still there and the adapter light would stay on.
So, I now have a new DS76 and am pleased with it. Setting it up was all automated by the GPS when it was connected to my PC. I did have to go out to my pickup and do a pairing though. I don't remember it being as automated when I got my 1st one.
Transferred all my saved places and loaded all my favorite POI files. I also installed two routes. BTW - Basecamp requires a learning process, as some of you know.
I now wonder how long the "Lifetime Maps" will last.
