This list started out as California micro and nano breweries, but rapidly increased to including "smaller" craft breweries. There will be gray areas, but they will be added or removed using the fuzzy logic between my ears.
Criteria for this list:

  1. Must own their own brewing equipment (not using a contract brewer or beer supplier)
  2. Must be independently owned and does not own other breweries (wineries with a single brewery are OK)
  3. Brewery must only be in California
  4. No more than 3 or 4 tap rooms (Ideally 1 or 2 taprooms)
  5. If multiple locations, the listed location must be in the brewery where possible (not all breweries have a tap room in the brewery)
  6. If multiple locations and there is not a tap room in the brewery, then the tap room closest to the brewery should be listed

A huge challenge for a list like this is the frequent updating for new or deceased breweries. The only way to keep this list somewhat usable is if users give frequent feedback on breweries that are closed or new ones that have opened (must be selling beer to the public). Also, many of my coordinates may not be the best. If you have a better one, let me know and I will replace my current one.
There are also a many businesses that have "brewery" or something similar in their name and/or description that have nothing to do with brewing. I've removed a few, but I'm sure some have gotten by. Let me know if you find any and I will remove them.
Please provide feedback on new or missing micro or nano breweries. Provide the following:

  • Name
  • Website
  • Longitude and latitude

If a brewery should be removed. Provide the following:

  • Name
  • Website
  • Reason for removal. i.e. news reports, went there and they are out of business, etc.

My last check found more than 65 updates so I've changed on how I will update this list. I removed all entries except for local ones I know are good. As I visit new locations or get input from others, I will continue to update the list.
