No way to tell SP330 to avoid cretin areas on a route?

Is there a way to tell the Street Pilot 330 to avoid cretin segments of a route so it will take an alternate route? I planned a trip to Ohio from NC and it wants to take me take I85 instead of I40 and I40 is better because I85 is only 2 lanes and has more local trafic, it also wants me to take business 40 instead of staying on regular non business 40 which although regular 40 is longer it's better because I avoid the congestion form business traffic on business 40.

The Magellan 860T has the option to tell it to avoid certin areas according to the manual I downloaded when I was researching GPS systems.

I got the Street Pilot for Christmas so I did not have a choice in which brand or model to choose.

What I suggest doing is take

What I suggest doing is take the route you think is best and your GPS will recalculate itself. This happens on mine at times too but eventually it figures out what I want to do..

Good Luck,

Forcing another route

I find that if I put in a via point that is on the route I want to force my Streetpilot to take, then I can control the roads it uses. It is a bit of a pain and is contingent on you knowing a via point that is on the road. It is also a shame you cannot "teach" the unit the route you want to take next time while you are driving.

Put a via point in or just

Put a via point in or just go the way you think. The unit will recalculate.

Some of the more sophisticated models like the 2720 will allow you to avoid certain roads/areas.
