What is the RED Warning bar on my C330?

While on the highway today and on vacation my C330 displayed a red bar at the top of the screen. (Where the green bar typically is to display your next turn.) Within the red bar it said something along the lines of “warning 2 kph” at the same time the unite would make this beeping sound every second. It eventually went a way but it was annoying.

In addition at times this little icon of a white box with a black dot inside was on the screen.

Does anyone know what these two things were?

Have you loaded any custom POIs

The alert might be a speed alert from a custom POI you loaded. Do you have any custom pois loaded? If so, do any of them have "speed", "@", or a number in the title? Did you set a speed alert when you loaded them with POI Loader in manual mode?

Oh! The night before our trip I numbered all the POI files. Such as:

01 Starbucks
02 Dunkin' Donuts

Do you suspect the C330 is interpreting these entries as speed warnings?

Numbers in file names

I see you like to use numbers in your file names, as do I. Well here is the trick.

Start with a number 125 or larger. I use 200. After that number, you can place point (.) and then another number. i.e. 200.01 filename.csv.

Any number in the file name between 1 and 124, is interpreted as a speed. And the speed times ~52.8 = the calculated distance. That is between 26 and 124 mph. 25 and below, the distance is 1319 feet.

If you use the Manual mode, in POI Loader, the maximum distance is 200000 feet or 37.88 miles. Or the min/max speed is 0/124.

All this information is based on my Garmin C530.

Sort Problem

If you are using POI Loader in the Express load mode (didn't check manual), the csv files should show up in an alphabetic sequence (listed below All Categories):
0200 Z
0201 A
200 Z
201 A
A
B
If you place a ! in front of the file name, it is first in line.

Are you seeing something other than this?

Individual POI's in the csv file are sorted by closest distance to the GPS receiver. There is no control of this sort.

I have the same problem

A while back I queried the forum group about the same problem. Apparently, the C330 does indeed, load Custom POI's in the same sequence that they were built. No way to sort them, no matter what sequence Windows Explorer or POI Loader puts them in.

I wonder if things have changed... I was able to sort them using the method of:

0200 Z
0201 A
200 Z
201 A
A
B
