Battery life?

16.5 really drug down my battery life. Any experience with 16.6?

Working well on iPhone

Thanks for the heads up, John. (I thought Apple had said 16.5 would be the last non-security update before iOS 17 expected in September, but whatever.)

iOS 16.6 is now working well on my iPhone. Performance seems fine.

I've had the same experience with reduced battery life lately, and am not sure yet whether 16.6 is better or worse, but in my case, my battery is up over the 3-year-old mark, so needing recharges sooner may be more due to that than iOS.

On my iPad I'm already on the beta iPad iOS 17, which is also working well. I don't usually truck with beta software but made an exception this time because iPad iOS 17 has a feature I've been wanting. (It adds the Health app that's long been on the phone to the iPad. For me this allows mapping of an audiogram to music playback over supported AirPods and Beats, which the iPad has not been able to do before iOS 17.)

If you have an iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max the default refresh rate is 120Hz which consumes more power. Low Power Mode allows you to do this. You can lower the frame rate by going to Settings >> Accessibility >> Motion and selecting Limit Frame Rate. Retest with a video; you might not even see a difference.
