Will 4 GB SD Cards work with the Garmin GPS Units?

I have a Nuvi 660 and am thinking about getting a c550. Will these work with a 4 GB SD Card? I have heard that some of these models will work with sizes up to 2 GB, but will not work with the 4 GB size since it uses a different file format.

Anyone know the scoop on this?

SD Cards and Garmin c550

I traded my Garmin 3600 in for the C550 last month and I'm very, very pleased with the C550. The Garmin site did not mention a 1GB SD card and anxious to load MP3's to it, I tried my 1GB SD Card and it works fine. As far as greater than 1GB SD Cards I can't say. I do know on my Garmin 3600 I had to do an upgrade for it to accept the 1GB.

I haven't seen any 4 gig cards locally yet.

What size shuld I get?

Just got my nuvi 660, what size card should I get. I will be using my Garmin for music on the road.

The lates firmware for the Nuvi 660 allows it to accept 4GB SD Cards

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

careful...

4 gig cards are sketchy with windows though. i bought one recently to use in my digital camera, and while the camera will read it, when my computer will not recognize it when inserted into a card reader. so if you're wanting to load mp3s to it directly from windows, be sure that your card reader is compatible with 4 gb cards

Gavin, Have you tried just

Gavin,

Have you tried just connecting your Nuvi directly to your computer using a USB cable and therefore using the drive built into the Nuvi as your card reader? This gets around an incompatible drive on your computer.
