TourGuide problems

Poi loader
Zumo 590, maps 2024.1, Windows 10. After a recent map update where I had to install a micro sd card my TourGuide alerts haven’t worked. I have tried all my notes from the past. I use a file name of: H-D Dealers 5-17-23.gpx, a mp3 file of TourGuide.mp3. I load manually with a 15840 ft distance (3 miles). This has allowed enough time when traveling to exit the hwy and visit a dealership for t shirts. If anyone has any help or step by step instructions I am greatly appreciative. I have drug the mp3 file into the Zumo and also the sd card. I’ve tried several different file name with and without dashes and underscores. It used to work flawlessly.

Thanks

The files need to all be

The files need to all be named TourGuide.HDdealers.gpx, TourGuide.HDdealers.mp3, TourGuide.HDdealers.bmp for example.

Thank you for your quick

Thank you for your quick response. I have renamed and reloaded the .gpx & mp3 files to the unit & the sd card separately. I created and did a simulated route that would carry me into the alert area but it didn't alert. In the past even with volume muted the alerted dealers name would show on the top of the display. Thanks for your assistance.

hmm

Did you use POIloader to put the files on the device?

I'm not sure it works if you just move each file to the device.

don't drag .gpx files to the GPS or SD card

Don't drag .gpx files or .mp3 files to the Zumo or the SD card. Only use POI Loader to load POIs to the GPS.

POI Loader loads the .mp3 file. It must be done at the same time as the .gpx file.

Gentlemen,
I thank you for all your input & help. I'm going to shut everything down and reload poi loader and redo my files and start again tomorrow. I'll be back in touch. Thanks again.

Live and learn

Interesting. I would have guessed that a Zumo 590 can not play mp3 files, but since you've had them work before, this Zumo must still be compatible with mp3 files and not require wav audio files.

Here's an ancient FAQ describing adding audio alerts to custom POIs in Garmin devices:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4360

Note that POILoader will take the gpx and mp3 files from your computer (plus bmp, if a custom icon is desired) and turn them into a single gpi file. Custom POIs, whether standard or TourGuide, are gpi files in the Garmin device. Do not copy gpx, mp3, or other files—like bmp and wav—directly to your Zumo.

Many thanks to each of you.

Many thanks to each of you. After a shutdown and a Zomo re-boot all worked as it should. Did several simulated routes then 5 passes by 2 different Poi's and it alerted and played the Mp3 as it should. Thanks again.

Great!

Glad to hear you got it sorted out! Thanks for the follow up.
